The Hershberger’s are a family of three and big Pittsburgh Steelers Fans. They use computers for general purpose tasks such as browsing, checking email, and listening to the occasional AC/DC or Quiet Riot album.
Scott, Karen, and Seth are regular computer users. They recently purchased a new wireless router, printer, and laptop. Although they aren't newcomers to technology, they needed some assistance getting everything up and running.
They contacted us to help them setup a secure wireless network and configure all their devices (i.e., laptop, printer, iPods) to connect seamlessly. In addition, they needed some files from their old computer transferred to their new laptop.
We helped the Hershberger's setup and secure their wireless network, made sure every last device connected automatically, and transferred data between computers.
First, we configured their new wireless router with the strongest encryption and ensured it wasn't broadcasting "come and connect to me". After that, we configured all their devices, including a printer, laptop, and iPods to connect to the new network automatically. Then we transferred files from their old computer to the new laptop.
While moving the files, we noticed they were likely infected with the Antivirus 2008 malware. So we transferred files carefully and then configured their laptop according to best practices. In addition, we provided a quick session on computer security best practices to help keep them safe in the future.
Scott, Karen, and Seth were extremely excited about their new "tech" setup and enjoyed the learning lessons along the way while we were getting everything setup.
